Four-armed Vishnu, Khmer school, 12th-13th century - Bronze with a green patina from excavation. Approximately 45 cm high. Sculpture of Vishnu depicted standing in a hieratic pose with four arms, holding in his upper hands the chakra and the ritual shankha conch, traditional attributes of the preserver deity of Hinduism. The figure is crowned with a tall, cylindrical mukuta and richly adorned with necklaces, bracelets, and an ornate belt, while wearing a pleated dhoti knotted at the back with an elegant central drape. The modeling of the bare torso and the solemn verticality of the composition are fully characteristic of Khmer sculpture from the Late Angkorian period. The surface exhibits a remarkable green mineral patina that accentuates the archaeological character and historical depth of the work. The anatomical stylization and expressive serenity reflect the spiritual ideal of medieval Cambodian statuary, where balance, symmetry, and sacredness are integrated into a sculptural formulation of intense monumental presence.
