Jun-type verseuse with flamed enamels, Qing Chinese school, 19th century - Porcelain stoneware with a turquoise celadon glaze and purple streaks. Measures 33 x 9 cm. Pouring jug with an ovoid body, flared neck, applied handle, and side spout, covered in a thick, bluish vitreous glaze enlivened by spectacular purple-violet streaks with a crystallized effect. The glazes flow vertically across the surface, creating spontaneous tonal transitions and profound variations in light characteristic of ceramics inspired by Jun kilns. The partially reserved base reveals the suede-colored paste and demonstrates the traditional firing processes. The balance between understated form and chromatic exuberance reflects the Qing dynasty's reinterpretation of the great Song dynasty ceramic traditions, prized for their atmospheric effects and contemplative qualities.
