Pair of oil paintings on canvas, Hispanic American colonial school, 19th-20th century - Pair of colonial-era canvases on panel. Dimensions: 22 x 17 cm; framed: 37 x 30 cm. A set of two small compositions of a devotional and courtly nature. One depicts a standing, winged archangel with a feathered hat, greenish doublet, wide sleeves, light stockings with bows, and a firearm or arquebus held vertically. The other shows a standing female figure with a wide red cloak, green skirt, and dark headdress, set against an architectural background and carrying a palm branch. The intense colors, the frontality of the figures, and the clear drawing reinforce the popular and decorative character of the set.
