Vicente Palmaroli y González, signed (1834 - Madrid, 1896) - Oil on canvas. Dimensions 59 cm x 40 cm. Dimensions with frame 80 cm x 61 cm. In a richly decorated drawing room, three elegantly dressed ladies are seated together, listening to a musician dressed as a jester playing a lute before them. A small white dog sits beside the group, and the interior is further enhanced by a large fireplace, carpet, draperies, carved furniture, and a large painting of animals hanging on the far wall. The composition depicts a courtly and pleasant scene with a theatrical flair. The signature of Vicente Palmaroli is visible in the lower right corner.
