Bidspirit auction | Market view, Spanish School, 20th

Market view, Spanish School, 20th century - Oil on panel. Dimensions: 66 x 46 cm. A lively urban scene centered on a corner of a market nestled among vernacular buildings, where various figures move about and carry out daily tasks alongside market stalls. The composition combines a strongly vertical architectural structure with a free and synthetic brushstroke that breaks down the volumes into broad chromatic patches. The ochre, blue, and pink tones create a vibrant atmosphere that emphasizes the effects of light on the damp walls and pavement. The work displays a sensibility akin to Post-Impressionism and the renewed costumbrismo of 20th-century Spanish painting, prioritizing visual impression and atmosphere over meticulous description. It stands out for the spontaneity of its execution, its chromatic richness, and its evocation of everyday urban life. Dimensions: 66 x 46 cm.
