A highly refined and elegant female portrait attributed to Sir Thomas Lawrence, one of the most important British portrait painters of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The young woman is depicted half-length, dressed in a delicate black gown with white lace, holding a pink shawl that provides a subtle chromatic contrast to the composition. The elaborate hairstyle and the softness of the complexion perfectly reflect the English portrait style of the Regency period. The work stands out for the psychological sensitivity of the face and the delicate transition of light, characteristics typical of Lawrence's work, renowned for his ability to capture the aristocratic elegance and individuality of his sitters.
