AFRO BASALDELLA (Udine, 1912 – Zurich, 1976) – Viale delle Acacie, tav. 13 (1967) - Mosaic on panel. Dimensions: 77 × 151 cm. An important original mosaic created in 1967, belonging to the small and prestigious group of mosaic works developed by Afro Basaldella during his collaboration with the Ravenna workshops. The composition reflects the artist's mature abstract language, characterized by a refined balance between gesture, color, and structure, transferring to the mosaic the plastic intensity of his pictorial production from the 1960s. The chromatic richness of the tesserae, dominated by blues, blacks, ochres, and whites, generates a luminous vibration of great expressive power and makes the work an excellent example of the dialogue between the Italian mosaic tradition and postwar international abstraction. Signed in the lower right corner; the reverse bears the signature of G. Franco Bertaccini and the stamp of Galleria Il Patio in Ravenna. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity (COA) on a color photograph issued by Galleria Il Patio. The work is preserved in perfect condition.
