Bidspirit auction | Still life with a water

Still life with a water jug. Signed Vicente Ruiz. Valencian School. 20th century - Oil on canvas. Dimensions: 55 x 45 cm (70 x 60 cm with frame). Still life with a water jug, pitchers, and plant elements arranged in a dense, frontal composition. The intense, flat colors, as well as the freedom of the brushstrokes, give the work a strong expressive quality. The use of color as a spatial structure reflects an aesthetic close to figurative abstraction. The treatment of light is vibrant, and the traditional object (the water jug) acquires symbolic centrality. The style coincides with the mature work of Vicente Ruiz, associated with the Valencian artistic renewal.
