Key characteristics of advanced promotional vinyl Extreme rarity: They are produced in very limited quantities, sometimes fewer than 100 copies, making them significantly rarer than standard commercial releases. Distribution: Labels send them to a select group of people, like key DJs, journalists, or industry insiders, to generate early excitement. Visual cues: They often have unique markings to indicate their promotional status, such as: Plain white labels instead of a standard, colorful label. Stickers on the cover with phrases like ”Promotional Use Only” or ”Advance Copy”. Cut corners, punched holes, or specific markings on the cover or jacket. Potential collector value: Because of their rarity and early-pressing status, advanced promos can be very valuable to collectors, especially if they are from a collectible artist.
