Boris Asafovich Messerer (born March 15, 1933, Moscow, USSR) is a Soviet and Russian theater artist, set designer, and teacher. President of the Association of theater, film and television artists of Moscow.
Academician of the Russian Academy of SCIENCES (1997; corresponding member 1990). People's artist of the Russian Federation (1993). Winner of two state awards of the Russian Federation (1995, 2002). Member of the Union of artists of the USSR since 1960, the Union of theater workers of the Russian Federation and the Union of cinematographers of the Russian Federation.
Born on March 15, 1933 in Moscow in the family of ballet master Asaf Mikhailovich Messerer (1903 — 1992) and actress anel Alekseyevna Sudakevich (1906 — 2002).
Graduated from the Moscow architectural Institute, a student of Deineka and Fonvizin. He had an independent character and was beyond the influence of the Institute's teachers. He worked with the Sovremennik theater, the state academic Bolshoi theater, and the Moscow art academic theater. Author of stage design for more than one hundred and fifty Opera, ballet and drama performances.
The ballet in the Bolshoi theatre did not take place.
