The best Opera by Leoncavallo, one of the masterpieces of verism. The premiere brought fame to the composer. The Russian premiere of the Opera took place in 1892 (Moscow, Pryanishnikov Association, dir. Pribik). One of the best performers of the role of Canio, and especially Arioso from the first action of "Laugh, the clown" was Caruso. This Opera is very popular nowadays.
