Peter Gottfriedovich Hansen (1846-1930) was a Danish-Russian literary figure. He is known for translations made together with his wife Anna Vasilyevna. In 1888, Hansen married Anna Vasilyevna Vasilyeva (1869-1942), who, after learning the Danish language, became his active assistant. The Hansens translated Scandinavian writers such as Hans Christian Andersen, Henrik Ibsen, Knut Hamsun, Bjornstjerne Bjornson, søren Kierkegaard, Johan August Strindberg, Karin Mikaelis, and others into Russian.
The present collection of works translated by the Hansen couple includes the first verse plays by G. Ibsen "brand" and "Peer Gynt", written during his stay in Dresden, Rome, and Munich. Published was the drama "wild duck", written under the influence of impressionism and W. Shakespeare. In addition, the publication contains poetry and articles by G. Ibsen.
