Sketches for the production of the Baku Russian Drama Theater named after S. Vurgun's play "Conscience" based on the story of the same name by D. Pavlova (1963). [The novel is dedicated to the restoration of Lenin's norms of party life, a passionate, irreconcilable struggle with the old, with the consequences of the personality cult. Events unfold mainly in one of the design institutes in Moscow on the eve of the XX Congress. The communists of the institute blackballed the former secretary of the party committee in the elections. The protagonist of the novel Vasily Martyanov - the newly elected secretary of the party organization of the institute, a previously unremarkable ordinary engineer - in the course of events is revealed as a man of unbending will, an implacable fighter against routine, eyewash. The struggle becomes especially acute when the director of the institute Proshin finds support from the secretary of the district committee Yakimov. But Martyanov is not stopped by threats, slander, or direct repression. The novel conveys the moods, thoughts, hopes of people ...]

                              BAKINS IN SPIRIT
By birth, he is not a Baku citizen, but, having given the city more than twenty years, having fallen in love with it, having accepted it with his soul, he rightfully began to consider himself as such.
Yuri Alekseevich Toropov arrived in Baku shortly after graduating from the Leningrad Theater Institute named after Ostrovsky, where he studied at the production department, which at that time was headed by its creator, a prominent theater artist N.P. Akimov.
It was in 1961.
The city received him, like everyone else, with cordiality. And the young man answered him with a kind heart and an open soul.
He was not just a guest in this southern city. He came to work, to do something that not everyone can do - to serve art. Simply put, he became the chief artist of the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater named after Samed Vurgun. Perfectly mastering the brush, knowing great world drama, showing interest in the Azerbaijani theater, history, culture of the people, the artist began to work miracles. His scenery for the performances aroused the admiration of the audience, which also contributed to the success of the productions. Many Bakuvians, probably, still remember the performances "Aydin", "Khamisha Khanum", "Antigone", "Steps of the Commander", "Maria Stuart", "The Dawns Here Are Quiet", "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" history ", " 104 pages about love ", " Hunted horse "and others.]
