Good condition.

The journal "Modern world" - continued closed in 1906, "God's Peace". Bogdanovich died in 1907. Despite the continuity, which was constantly emphasized by the editorial Board, published until 1918 "Modern world" — another magazine.

In the first years the magazine had to go through difficult times. A. I. Bogdanovich died in 1907, and F. D. Batyushkov could not edit the magazine, as until 1908 was under investigation in the case of "Peace of God", the priest was acquitted. Material difficulties.

In 1907, E. A. Lyatsky came to the editorial office (the idea of self-valuable art, indifferent to the benefits or harm brought to them, was contrary to the views of A. I. Bogdanovich in the "World of God"). Lacki proposed to review and the journal type that was opposed by the publisher and publicists.

There were changes in the structure of the journal: in the new journal the editors changed the subtitle, it became more traditional: "Monthly literary, scientific and political journal". The words "for reading" and "for self-education" disappeared, the Department of scientific publications was almost abolished; literature, which remained at a high level, was still inferior to journalism and politics. "The journal aims to spread the ideas of consistent political and social democracy and personal liberation among its readers." "Modern world" has become a classic type of thick magazine with a single direction. "Modern world" has become a journal of open social democratic orientation.

By 1908 formed the core of the editorial Board: M. Nevedomsky, V. Kranichfeld, V. Lvov-Rogachevsky. Since may 1909, the new editor, who worked before informally — N. I. Jordan.

"The modern world" did not bind its program to the narrow framework of party demands, and the social Democrats themselves, having received at the disposal of the only thick monthly, tried to save it, not to endanger the closure. Plekhanov, who became one of the main authors of the magazine, did not give a single article in the legal edition, interpreting party problems, so that the magazine was not closed.

After 1905, the so-called Mensheviks - "party members" were grouped around Plekhanov (the idea of preserving an illegal party; part of the social Democrats believed that it was necessary to concentrate all efforts on work in the Duma and eliminate illegal party structures).

Against the "liquidators" were the Bolsheviks led By Lenin - in the "Modern world" came the Bolsheviks. V. V. Borovsky and M. S. Olminsky, V. D. Bonch-Bruevich and A. M. Kollontai begin to be printed., and the work of V. I. Lenin. In the 1910s, the "Modern world" turned out to be a magazine for a time, which published "all social Democrats" without dividing into groups and factions. "Modern world" was ideologically close to the Bolshevik mass Newspapers "Star" and "Pravda".

At the beginning of world war I, peace between the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks was broken. The magazine took the "defencist" position in opposition to the call of the Bolsheviks to the "defeatism". "Modern world" was sharply criticized by Lenin.

After February 1917, "Modern world" became the spokesman for the ideas of Plekhanov's group "Unity", in January 1918 was closed.
