"Niva" - a popular Russian weekly magazine mid-XIX-early XX century with applications. It was published for 48 years, from the end of 1869 to September 1918 in the publishing house of A. F. Marx in St. Petersburg. The magazine was a favorite brainchild of A. F. Marx, who headed his publishing house until his death in 1904. "Niva" was Positioned as an illustrated magazine for family reading and was focused mainly on the layman. The magazine published literary works, historical, popular science essays, reproductions and prints of paintings by contemporary artists. Materials of political and public content were also accompanied by numerous illustrations. Among the famous writers published in the magazine were A. K. Tolstoy, F. I. Tyutchev, L. N. Tolstoy, A. A. FET, A. p. Chekhov, Maxim Gorky, Korney Chukovsky, Anna Akhmatova, Ivan Bunin and many others. Thanks to the "Field" the works of many modern authors have reached the most remote regions of Russia.
