This is one of the main works of the outstanding Russian archaeologist Anton baltazarovich Ashik (1802 - 1854). The author introduces us to the history of the ancient Bosporan state, the peculiarities of culture, life and beliefs of its inhabitants. The research is based on antiquities discovered during the excavation of mounds on The black sea coast. Most of the valuable finds are stored in the Hermitage, the rest – in the Kerch Museum, which Ashik managed for almost two decades. A rare lifetime edition, beautifully designed, with many illustrations.
