Condition: foxing stains to endpapers and some foxing stains internally In the Negev steppes is a play by Yigal Musinzon that was performed at the ”Habima” theater in February 1949. The play deals with the War of Independence and was performed on the stage of the Repertory Theater during the war. From the very status of the theater during the Yishuv period and the early days of the state as a shaper of public opinion, the play was known to have a great influence in shaping the memory of the war in the civil discourse. The play strengthened the image of the sword in Israeli culture and dictated the ”heroic beauty” for society. Yigal Mossinson (Hebrew: יגאל מוסינזון; 25 December 1917 – 1 May 1994), also known as Igal Mossinsohn and Yigal Mosenzon, was an Israeli novelist, playwright, and inventor. He was the author of the Hasamba children's book series.[1] Among his many awards was the David's Violin Prize for Casablan, the 1954 play upon which the Israeli musical comedy stage and screen hit Kazablan was based.
