Hugo Krayn (born February 5, 1885 in Berlin; died January 25, 1919 in Charlottenburg) was a German painter of the Berlin Secession. Industrial Berlin, its inhabitants on the street and in their working world were his themes. Even during a holiday in Davos, his impressions were more of the narrowness of the village than the monumentality of the mountain landscape. Krayn exhibited in the Berlin Secession, of which he became a member in 1915, and in the German Artists' Association. The city of Berlin bought paintings from him. He was represented in Wiesbaden at the Great Art Exhibition in 1918. Before a new definition of his painting style, noticed by Lovis Corinth in two paintings, could take hold, Krayn died of the Spanish flu that was raging around the world. A large part of his work was lost in an air raid on Berlin.
