Dr. Aaron Rosmarin, an editor of the Yiddish newspapers Der Morgn-Zhurnal (The Morning Journal) and ”Der Yid”. Aaron Rosmarin (born 1904) emigrated to the United States in 1931 — together with his wife Trude Weiss-Rosmarin. The couple settled in New York City. With his wife, Aaron Rosmarin co-founded in New York what they called the “School of the Jewish Woman, ” which opened in the early 1930s (sources alternately say 1932 or October 1933). The school offered courses in Hebrew, Jewish history, Bible, and Yiddish. The school closed in 1939. After the school’s closure, his wife continued publishing a monthly periodical, which evolved into the magazine The Jewish Spectator. The founding of that publication is strongly associated with the Rosmarins.
