Sam Shankman (1890-1967) The Concise Dictionary of American Jewish Biography lists him as Samuel Shankman, born in Mozyr (Minsk province/region) in 1890; he attended Southwestern and Western Tennessee State Teachers College. It also describes him as a social and Zionist figure in Memphis, Tennessee: he was a delegate to the American Jewish Congress and Zionist conventions, and organized Hadassah chapters.
