Shlomo Yitzchaki (1040-1105), generally known by the acronym Rashi, was a medieval French rabbi, famed as the author of comprehensive commentaries on the Talmud and Hebrew Bible. Rashi's commentaries on the Bible, especially those on the Pentateuch, circulated in many different communities. In the 12th17th centuries, Rashi's influence spread from French and German provinces to Spain and the east. He had a tremendous influence on Christian scholars. Abraham (Adolf) Berliner (2 May 1833 – 21 April 1915) was a German theologian and historian, born in Obersitzko, in the Grand Duchy of Posen, Prussia. He was initially educated by his father, who was the teacher in Obersitzko. He continued his education under various rabbis, later studying at the University of Leipzig where he received the degree of doctor of philosophy.
