The photograph signed by the studio at the lower portion of the passe-partout. Large-format photograph, 25×20 cm. Presented within a passe-partout mount and the studio's official cardboard portfolio. The photograph itself in good condition, light fading. Detached from the passe-partout; tear to the passe-partout, creasing, staining, and wear to the portfolio principally along the margins, minor tears. * Albany Art Union Studio was a commercial portrait photography studio that operated in Albany, New York, from approximately 1897 to 1968. Over seven decades, the studio documented the local community by photographing portraits of individuals, families, business employees, and organization members. The studio photographed prominent public figures of the era, including historical portraits of Edith Kermit Carow Roosevelt (wife of Theodore Roosevelt) and her daughter Ethel. * The United States Military Academy at West Point, founded in 1802, is the oldest continuously controlled military institution in America. Originally, George Washington decided to plan the Academy as a strategic fortification during the American War of Independence; it was established to train American soldiers in the arts of combat and engineering. Enlisted soldiers may attend the United States Military Academy at West Point to receive a fully funded undergraduate degree and serve as second lieutenants in the Army. The highly competitive program requires a service commitment, and selected soldiers may attend the West Point military school in advance.
