A rare historical children's book from the late 19th century, conceived to introduce young readers to the life stories of the great classical composers and musicians through short rhyming verses in English. Accompanied by original, delicate illustrations that lend the volume an authentic Victorian charm.  Printed in a wide oblong format characteristic of children's music books; hardcover bound in beige cloth. The front cover is decorated with a brown illustration of figures in period dress gathered around an antique keyboard instrument, with stylized lettering displayed within a ribbon border.  47 pages. Private (non-authorial) handwritten dedication on the front endpaper.  23 cm. 578 g. Generally good condition: cover: light abrasions, a few stains; interior: slight separation of the spine, not entirely stable; light yellowing to the paper.
