The body of the bird is born of a masterly combination of natural minerals: the wings, tail and head are carved from yellow calcite and quality milky quartz, semi-transparent in warm honey-amber tones, displaying fine, precise hand carving that simulates the texture of feathers. The bird's breast is carved from a rare, pastel sea-blue mineral (fluorite or aquamarine), creating a perfect chromatic contrast. The bird's eyes are set with dark gemstones to impart depth. The bird stands on realistic metal (brass/copper) feet, anchored securely into a massive base: a geodesic cluster of natural, high-quality amethyst crystals in a rich, deep purple color. The edges of the base reveal fascinating geological layers of natural agate in earth, rainbow and cream tones.
