Antique De Zeng-Standard Co. Ophthalmoscope in Original Fitted Case - This is an early 20th-century ophthalmoscope manufactured by the De Zeng-Standard Co. of Camden, New Jersey. The instrument is a medical diagnostic tool designed for inspecting the retina and internal structures of the eye. It features a battery-handle design constructed of nickel-plated brass. The head is made of black-finished metal and composite components with integrated glass lenses and a rotating lens selection disc. The instrument is housed in its original fitted case of wood and board construction, featuring a textured black leatherette exterior and a purple velvet-lined interior. Markings include printed gold lettering on the case lid reading De Zeng-Standard Co. Camden, N. J. The handle is stamped near the base with DE ZENG-STANDARD CO. CAMDEN, N.J. PATS PENDING. The top of the rotating lens disc is stamped DE ZENG-STANDARD CO. MAKERS followed by patent dates including MAY 19, 03 and MAY 2, 1905. The disc also includes plus and minus indicators for the diopter lenses.
