Ned Foltz Redware Pottery Slip-Decorated Tulip Plate, 1987 - A large contemporary Pennsylvania redware plate produced in the traditional Pennsylvania German slipware style by C. Ned Foltz of Foltz Pottery. The circular earthenware form features a decorative crimped or cabled rim and is finished with a dark, manganese-colored brown glaze. The interior is decorated with slip-trailed motifs in tan and dark green, featuring a central stylized floral bouquet with three prominent tulips and foliate branches. The rim is embellished with a repeating pattern of slip-trailed teardrops and dotted circular clusters. The unglazed reverse features an incised signature reading C. Ned Foltz below a horizontal line, along with an impressed circular stamp that reads FOLTZ POTTERY REINHOLDS, PA surrounding a stylized tulip symbol. Below the stamp is the incised date 1987 and the letter T. Diameter: 11.5 inches.
