An Early Lionel Postwar O-Gauge No. 2046 Steam Locomotive and Tender - This set consists of a vintage postwar O-gauge steam locomotive and matching coal tender manufactured by The Lionel Corporation. The locomotive is a 2-6-4 wheel configuration, finished in matte black with white heat-stamped numbering 2046 on the cab sides. The locomotive is constructed with a die-cast metal body and chassis. A stamped metal plate on the underside of the boiler reads IMPORTANT LUBRICATE AS PER INSTRUCTIONS THE LIONEL CORPORATION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA. It features an internal electric motor, smoke unit, E-unit reverse mechanism with top-mounted control lever, and Magnetraction. The accompanying tender features a die-cast metal body marked L I O N E L L I N E S on both sides. The tender is equipped with an internal air-whistle mechanism, die-cast metal trucks, and a rear operating knuckle coupler. Both pieces utilize metal wheels, axles, and side rods.
