Breininger Pottery Pennsylvania Redware Octagonal Bird and Flower Platter - A contemporary Pennsylvania redware rectangular platter with clipped corners, manufactured by Breininger Pottery of Robesonia, Pennsylvania. The piece is constructed from red earthenware clay and features a glossy black slip-glazed face. The decoration consists of traditional Pennsylvania German folk art motifs, including a central four-pointed star-flower on a tall stalk flanked by two symmetrical distelfink birds perched on floral sprays. The design is executed using slip-trailing and sgraffito techniques in cream-yellow and terracotta brown. The reverse remains unglazed, showing the natural red clay body, and is hand-inscribed: Breininger Pottery / T.S. / Robesonia, PA / Nov. 4, 2003 / nice warm day.
