ANTIQUE JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY EISHOSAI CHOKI (1775-1822) TITLED BEAUTY AND WIND CHIMES WITH COA, 24IN x 26IN (61cm x 66cm) - Antique Japanese woodblock print by Eishosai Choki (1775-1822) titled Beauty and Wind Chimes. This piece is after the original which was created in 1798. This piece is part of the famous Robert O. Muller collection, and it was purchased by Muller in the 1930s. Wonderful Choki design of an elegant beauty pausing to look out a window. Small figures dot a pathway below, and a bell with a poem slip attached hangs from the window frame. She wears a tie-dyed kimono and carries a small metal container of coals. A terrific composition with beautiful fine detail in the hairline. An original label and seal on the reverse indicates that this print was published by the Imperial Household Museum, the name of the Tokyo National Museum from 1900 - 1947. The museum commissioned high quality reprints of many of the ukiyo-e masterworks in its collection. This piece is double matted and framed under glass, in a simple wooden frame.
