"And when we make an effort, He who governs us G-d will shine His face unto us" a letter by the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Shkop, with a request for assiting his yeshiva the Sha'ar HaTorah Yeshiva in Grodno, Grodno, 1932.

In the letter, the Gaon Rabbi Shimon Shkop appeals to his friend and disciple Rabbi Aharon Tsharni a Rav in New Jersey and previously in Sovlak and London with a request to assist him in raising funds for his yeshiva "at this time when crisis encompasses the entire world" - the financial crisis that began in 1929 and badly damaged the support of the Torah in those years. Rabbi Shimon ends his letter with touching words and warm blessings.

The Gaon Rabbi Shimon Yehuda Hacohen Shkop (1860-1949) was the Rosh Yeshiva of the Sha'ar HaTorah Yeshiva in Grodno and one of Gedolei Hador. In his youth, he studied Torah with Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. Rabbi Shimon developed a unique study method in the classic eastern-Eurpean study of Torah, which was manifested mainly in his renowned Sefer "Sha'arei Yosher", which is studied admiringly, alongside his addiitonal writings, by all Jewish communities in the world, especially in the world of yeshivas.

Many of the leading Rashei Yeshivas in Israel in the previous generation were his disciples (the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Shmuelovitz, the Gaon Rabbi Shmuel Rosovsky and many others).
