Special postcard letter handwritten by the holy Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer of Pressburg, sent to the Tzaddik Gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Roth of Jerusalem. Lugano, 1959. 


In his letter, the holy Gaon of Pressburg expresses his wish to give lessons and establish the yeshiva as it previously was, writing 'נכספה וכלתה נפשי לחצרות ד' בתוככי ירושלים ומה גם להשתעשע בשעשועי דאורייתא עם תלמידנו בלימוד שיעורין כסדרן שזה חלקי מכל עמלי וד' יחזקני ויאמצני לעבוד עבודה תמה בעין יפה בזכות אבותיי הק' זצ"ל שמעולם לא פסקה ישיבה משולחנם'.

The letter begins and ends with his blessings for success in all matters and especially in the Torah and its work. 


The holy Rav of Pressburg travelled for health reasons to his sons and family in London and Lugano and several months later passed away. 


The great Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer of Pressburg (1878-1959) Gaon Av Beis DIn of Pressburg - author of the 'Da'as Sofer' one of the greatest rabbis and leaders of his generation. The great-grandson of Maran the Chassam Sofer and the successor of his ancestors the Kesav Sofer and the Sheves Sofer in leading the community and heading the Yeshiva of Pressburg. He served as the president of the orthodox communities of Hungary. He immigrated to Eretz Yisroel shortly before the outbreak of World War II, reestablished the Pressburg Yeshiva in Jerusalem, was appointed to serve as a member of Moeatzet Gedolei HaTorah.
