Nachlat Shiv’a, Second Edition. Frankfurt am Main, 1693. Rare!
Sefer Nachlat Shiv’a, by Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi David Halevi. Frankfurt am Main, 1693. Rare.

Sefer Nachlat Shiv’a, by Rabbi Shmuel ben Rabbi David Halevi, regarding marriage and divorce documents and other deeds. Print house of Uri Weibash son of Aharon Halevi, Frankfurt am Main, 1693. Forged title page (a copy of the first edition, Amsterdam, 1667-68). Rare.

The date acronym on the title page (‘משיח בן דוד בא’) evaluates to 427 (1667), and that in the colophon evaluates to 428 (1668). There is a theory which sees in the date acronym, and in other places in the Sefer, Sabbatian influences.
With signatures on the title page, amongst which are: “Yosef Ilfeld”, “The young, Jacob son of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Segal… Cantor”, and more. With many approbations copied from the first edition, including that of Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas the Sephardi of Hamburg, one of the first to come out against the false messiah Shabtai Tzvi, and that of Rabbi Yitzchak Abohab, Av Beis Din and Rosh Mesivta of the Sephardic community in Amsterdam, a signatory on the excommunication of Baruch (Benedict) Spinoza, and the first Rabbi in the Americas, during 1649-1654.

54, 53-59, 40-91, [1], 92-95, [1] pp. New binding. Stains. Damage to page margins. Moth holes. Fair condition.
