Sefer “Be’urei HaZohar”, the elucidations of the Ba’al HaTanya on the Zohar, which were written, edited, and published by his son, the Mitteler Rebbe – Kopust, 1816 – first edition. Elucidations on the Zohar, which the Ba’al HaTanya used to say on Friday nights to his sons and a select few of his disciples, which were written down by his son, the holy Gaon Rabbi Dov Ber Shneuri, the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch. These elucidations were said by the Alter Rebbe starting from the 19th of Kislev 5562 (Nov. 24, 1801) and until his last years. (Only about a quarter of his teachings were printed in the Sefer, as his son details in the preface). On the title page the Mitteler Rebbe tells: “…and most, if not all, of these holy writings were seen by C”K Admor OBM, and found much favor in his eyes.” In the preface, the Alter Rebbe speaks about the content of the elucidations: “…We have heard from his holy mouth every Shabbos at night, elucidations and explanations on the teachings of the Zohar, one page every week, for some years now, which is clear to all who sees that the Holy Spirit rested upon him as his light was revealed in the deep secrets of the Torah… I have heard from his holy mouth, not once and not twice, that all his days he made it a habit to study the Zohar specifically on Shabbos… and he said of himself that his habit is to study only 1 or 2 pages, abut with great depth and much toil with exactness to the language in every word that it should be perfectly aligned with the wisdom of Kaballah…” At the end of the preface, the Mitteler Rebbe describes how he wrote and edited the Sefer: “It is known to all those who enter the gates of my master and father OBM’s teachings that in all of his writings there is nothing that was added by him, but only where he comes in some places to explain and elucidate in places where his holy language is short, and even this is taken from the enlightened words of his teachings which are brought in other places…” Ownership notation on the title page: “Gedalya, son of my master and father Rabbi Baruch OBM Shapiro – Siedlce. [4], 139; 57 pp. 20cm. Partially bluish paper. Stains, some of which are moisture stains and some are dark. Creases and light wear. Paper strips on rear of title page and several others for reinforcement. Small torn holes. Notations. Old leather cover, slightly worn. New leather spine. Good condition.
