Many Glosses On Responsa Machaneh Chaim, First Edition - Responsa “Machne cahim”, by Rabbi Chaim Sofer, Av Beis Din in Munkatch – the first four volumes bound in one volume – Pressburg, 1862-1875 – first editions – with scores of long, scholarly glosses, some contain extremely sharp-worded disagreements with the author. Most of the glosses are sharply-worded refutations and attacks against the author. (It is possible that the author of these glosses was one of the Chassidim in Munkatch, who were strongly opposed to the Machne Chaim, known as a staunch “Misnaged”). Some of the title pages on blue-green tinged paper. First title page damaged at bottom edge, with damage to the border frame. Worn pages. Later cardboard cover with adhesive tape, slightly detached. Overall good condition.
