Shitah Mekubetzes on tractates Bava Kama, Bava Metzi’ah, and Bava Basra in one volume, by the Gaon Rabbi Betzalel Ashkenazi. Exemplar of the Gaon Rabbi Meir Dan Plotzky, whose signature is on all three title pages. Nathan Schriftgisser press, Warsaw, 1878. With the stamp of the immense Gaon “Meir Dan son of R’C.Y. Plotzky, Av Beis Din of Warta community, author of Sefer Chemdas Yisrael and Sefer Kli Chemda”, and many signatures in his handwriting on all three title pages, and with ownership notations which were written for him by his disciples, and additional owners’ signatures. The earliest signatures of Rabbi Meir Dan on this volume were written in his youth, including the notation: “A witness shall arise from the earth that this Sefer belongs to me, the young Chai Medaber (a wordplay on the acronym of his name, Meir Dan ben Rav Chaim Yitzchak) Plotzker of Kutno”. This signature was written when he lived together with the “Yeshu’os Malko” in Kutno, before his Bar Mitzvah. At the top of the first title page is an ownership notation: “He is a shield to all who sign with him belongs to… the dear and immense chassid, well renowned in his sharpness… our teacher Meir Dan Plotzker”. On the other title pages his name is signed as Av Beis Din of Warta, one of which is from 1900. Handwritten correction on the margin of pg. 64 in the Bava Kama section, and a scholarly gloss handwritten on the margin of pg. 22 in the Bava Basra section.
