Precious of Precious! Exemplar of the Maggid Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Wodzisław. Beit Yosef, Venice, 1574. Printed in the author’s lifetime.
Beit Yosef on Tur Yoreh De’ah (with the text). Printed in the author’s lifetime. Venice, 1574. Exemplar of the Maggid Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Wodzisław, father of Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Parshischa.
“Yoreh De’ah with the elucidations and innovations of the complete sage, Rosh Mesivta in the city of Tzfas, the Gaon Rabbi Yosef Karo, Beit Yosef, G-D shall add him length of good days and years”. – Beit Yosef on Tur Yoreh De’ah. Bombirgi Press, Venice, 1574.
Many glosses inside the Shulchan Aruch. Of the hundreds of glosses init, scores are in the hallowed handwriting of the holy Maggid of Wodzisław.
The indexes, which include the lists of the hints of the rulings in the Tur and the new rulings innovated by the Beit Yosef, are bound at the beginning of this volume, before the title page. Includes scores of handwritten glosses, some of which, as said, are in the handwriting of the Rebbe "Tzvi Hirsch", the holy Maggid, the saintly Kabbalist, Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch of Wodzisław – father of the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Bunim of Parshischa, master and teacher of all the Polish Tzaddikim – whose signature appears at the beginning of the Sefer. Also included was a page, in his handwriting, containing a sermon which he prepared to deliver on the Shabbos of Selichot.
There are several other ownership signatures among the Sefer’s pages, most of which are rubbed out.
The great and holy disciples of the Rebbe, Rabbi Bunim of Parshischa – as he was referred to across Poland – were luminaries of the generations:
- The holy Seraph of Kotzk.
- Rabbi Yitzchak of Vurka.
- Rabbi Yaakov Aryeh of Radzymin.
- The Chiddushei HaRim of Gur.
- the Rebbe, Rabbi Henich of Alexander.
- Rabbi Feivel of Grójec – forbear of the Alexander dynasty.
- Rabbi Mordechai Yosef of Izbica.
Each one of them raised disciples, built a dynasty, and created holy pathways in Chassidus and worshipping Hashem, all based on the teachings of the holy Rabbi Bunim of Parshischa, who, in turn, received this from his father, the holy Maggid of Wodzisław, and as he received from his own Rebbes and delved into it with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding, with his intelligence and holiness.
The holy Maggid of Wodzisław, Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch, father of the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Parshischa (1730-1810). Author of the Seforim “Asarah LeMe’ah” and “Eretz Tzvi”. A holy Maggid who was born in Germany and fought mightily to preserve the faith. Traveled throughout Poland and the nearby lands, giving fiery sermons regarding preserving the Torah and its authentic ways. Was revered as holy and pure, and was exalted by the Gaon, the Noda BiYehuda, who gave him an approbation in which he describes him in lofty terms. Although he was not counted among the Chassidic disciples, he was still exalted by the giants of Chassidus, and it is known that the Chozeh of Lublin asked him to speak publicly in Lublin. His son and successor was the famous and holy Rabbi Simcha Bunim of Parshischa, from whom, as said above, all the tzaddikim of Poland studied and followed.
