Prague, 1794, one year after the passing of the author, the Noda BiYehuda. First Edition. This exemplar carries an ownership notation which echoes the great fire in Frankfurt in 1796. Most of the Jewish ghetto in Frankfurt was burnt to the ground in 1796 after the shelling of the French army. The responsa of the time deal a lot with this fire, which resembled the great fire that happened during the days of the Smichas Chachomim in 1711. This exemplar carries the following interesting notation: “I purchased for the honor of my Rock and Master after the fire which happened on the eve of Shabbos Pinchas, the 3rd of Tammuz 556 (July 9, 11796) David Halevi… here Frankfurt”.
