‘G-D Forbid That a Holy Institution Should Be Cancelled’ – Rare and Wonderous Letter from the Holy Gaon Rabbi Refael Shapiro of Volozhin - Holy, rare and long letter, with the hallowed signature of the holy Rabbi Refael Shapiro of Volozhin, regarding the continuation of the Yeshiva in Kremenchuk. The letter was sent to the Gaon Rabbi Eliezer Yitzchak Fried, one of the Rabbonim of the Yeshiva in Kremenchuk. In the letter, Rabbi Refael begs with all his might that he undertake the position of the physical management of the Yeshiva in Kremenchuk, following the passing of the late Gaon, Rabbi Zalman Yosef Bemdes OBM, “and G-D forbid that a holy institute, in which, over the years since its founding, many have drunk from his well of the waters of life, and many others will drink from it and recognize his great and lofty value should be cancelled.” Rabbi Refael blesses with a full heart that in the merit of the study of Torah in public and the merit of the study of Torah by children, they will be blessed with an abundance of joy and wealth and all good and blessings, and a joyous and Kosher holiday, as their heart desires. At the bottom of the letter, written by a scribe, Rabbi Refael Shapiro adds in his own handwriting, and in a large and clear script: “His friend, who seeks his good peace with love, Refael Shapiro”. The letterhead reads: “Refael, son of the Gaon Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapiro – who toils the labor of Torah in Volozhin”.
