Curtain For a Torah Ark – Special! - Especially large and tall curtain for a Torah Ark. America or England, 1924. Handsome and preserved Parochet – curtain for the Ark – very large sized. Relatively modern embroidery for the period – 1924. Based on the style of the inscription, thei was donated to a synagogue in either the US or England, for use on a very large Aron Kodesh. At the top are the words “שויתי השם לנגדי תמיד”  – “I have set Hashem before me always”. In the center is an extremely large Star of David with the word ‘Zion’ in the center, and the inscription: “C.T. (Crown of Torah) – Donated by the children of the philanthropist R’ Yaakov Moshe in memory of their departed mother Chaya daughter of Shlomo. 4th of Kislev, 5685 (Dec. 1, 1924)”. This is repeated in short, in Latin lettering. The decorative embroidery includes rampant lions, flowers, pillars, leaves, and additional beautiful designs. Extra-thick embroidered velvet. Relatively few defects. Specially thick fringes. Age damages. Good condition.
