Me’orei E”Sh. First Edition. Fürth, 1766. Exemplar of He Disciples of the Chassan Sofer - Sefer ‘Me’orei E”sh’: Kosnos Ohr and Ohr Chadash on the Torah and the Megillot. Fürth, 1766 – first edition – exemplar of Rabbi Moshe Herzfeld, disciple of the Chassam Sofer – his signature and that of his father, Rabbi Eliezer Herzfeld. Sefer Me’orei E”Sh combines the works on Chumash of a grandfather and grandson. “Kosnos Ohr” was written by Rabbi Meir, Av Beis Din of Eisenstadt, author of Responsa Panim Me’irot, while “Ohr Chadash was written by his grandson, Rabbi Eliezer Kalir. The first section for each Parsha is Kosnos Ohr, followed by Ohr Chadash. Signatures and notations on the title page: “This Sefer belongs to the exalted and pious nobleman Eliezer Herzfeld – 1935”, “the s. Moshe Herzfeld”, “Yosef Metlis(?)”. Along the length of the front flyleaf is an ownership notation in rhyme and prose, taking up the entire page. On the back flyleaf is a list of references for topics discussed in the Sefer.
