Responsa Chacham Tzvi – First Edition, Amsterdam 1712 – An Elegant and Distinguished Exampler - One of the fundamental halachic works, very well-preserved: Sefer She'elot U'Teshuvot, Chacham Tzvi. First edition, Amsterdam 1712. The exampler of the renowned grammarian Rabbi Shlomo of Dubno and the pious Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Freund of Jerusalem. Chacham Tzvi’s responsa, the first edition of this foundational halachic work by the renowned Gaon Rabbi Tzvi Ashkenazi, Av Beit Din of Amsterdam. Printed by Shlomo Proops in Amsterdam in 1712, first edition. The exampler before us is very well-preserved, adding to its rarity, and it is also a distinguished exampler. In earlier years, it belonged to the renowned grammarian and printer Rabbi Shlomo of Dubno, one of the editors of the Biur of Moshe Mendelssohn. He later parted ways with him and printed his own separate edition of the Five Books of the Torah, which received approbations from the great luminaries of the generations. His handwritten signature appears at the top of the title page. Another later signature, nearly two hundred years old, belongs to the esteemed chassid Rabbi Baruch Yitzchak Freund, a follower of Sieniawa and Sanz in the Holy City of Jerusalem. A righteous and holy man, revered throughout Jerusalem for his sanctity and greatness. He passed away in 1964. [1] 127 leaves. Wormholes. The last leaves are slightly detached. Stains.
