The letter was sent to his son and contains important guidance from father to son. ”Only see that you do not get caught in the web of controversy... Pure intent solely for the service of Hashem, and the main prayer is to merit righteous children... Trust in Hashem, do not force the moment, you are still young—why burden yourself with the yoke of the rabbinate? Dedicate yourself to to the Talmud and halachic decisors, study in depth, and honor will come in the end... As the prayer of your father, who always prays on your behalf, the insignificant Zusman.” The holy Gaon, the illustrious author of Yalkut Eliezer, Rabbi Eliezer Zusman Sofer of Pápa [1828–1903] , was circumcised on the knees of our master, the Chatam Sofer, as recorded in his circumcision registry.
