Wolf” – Signature of the Gaon Rabbi Binyamin Wolf Lew. On leaf 2, an additional signature: ”Avraham Shag.” [59] leaves. The holy Gaon Rabbi Binyamin Wolf Lew [1777–1851], author of Sha'arei Torah, Av Beit Din of Verbo. Son of the holy Gaon Rabbi Elazar Lew, author of Shemen Rokach [1758–1837]. Served in the rabbinate in various cities in Poland, Bohemia, and Hungary. A renowned Gaon, one of the greats of the generation of the Chatam Sofer and Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Many great scholars were his students, including the author of Machaneh Chaim and Kol Aryeh. He left behind writings in all areas of Torah, among them his well-known Sefer Sha'arei Torah.
