The manuscript before us was printed [Breslau? 1796?], anonymously, but biographical researchers and the testimony of the Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Kluger (HaElef Lecha Shlomo, Yoreh De’ah 257), who knew the author, revealed his identity. Satirical compositions for Purim, like the one before us, though seemingly written for Purim joy, often drew opposition and claims that they were authored by mocking Maskilim who ridiculed the sacred Piyutim and Selichot. New half-leather binding. Stains, edge wear on some leaves. Good condition.
