This Sefer is also known as “Sefer Chassidim Katan” and “Sefer HaMaskil.” On the title page is the stamp “Nachum Dober Friedman” and the ownership stamp “Kinyan Kaspi, ” and on the inside front cover a label: “Library of Rabbi Nachum Dov Friedman of Sadigura.” With approbations from Rabbi Yeshaya Muskat of Prague and Rabbi Yehoshua of Kutna. With several glosses. The holy Rebbe Rabbi Nachum Dober Friedman of Sadigura (1844–1883) — son of the holy Rabbi Shalom Yosef of Ruzhyn and son‑in‑law of the holy Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura—was an outstanding Gaon in Torah and Chassidus, residing all his life in his father‑in‑law’s court in Sadigura. His large library contained rare books and precious manuscripts and was one of the most important and famous libraries of its time. The Gaon Rabbi Yehudah Yehuda HaLevi of Sadigura writes in his introduction to his Sefer: “And when I came to the city of Sadigura, I found in the home of the remnants of the holy Rabbi Nachum Dov, who possesses a priceless collection of books by early authors, unmatched in value and splendor.” He used to classify and stamp his books with three main inscriptions: Minchat Shei, Yerushat Avot, Kinyan Kaspi.
