Letter from the Imrei Emes of Gur to his brother Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pavnitsh, Gur, 1930. - Letter in the sacred handwriting of Maran the holy Gaon the ”Imrei Emes” of Gur, to his brother the holy Gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel Av Beit Din of Pavnitsh HY”D – regarding the conduct of their father Maran the ”Sfat Emet” OBM in the recitation of the Kedushah of ”U’va LeTzion” – Kislev 5690 [1930] From the contents of the letter, it appears that Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pavnitsh asked his brother for the source and reason that their father, Maran the ”Sfat Emet, ” would recite aloud the Aramaic translations of the verses in the Kedushah of ”U’va LeTzion” and not in a whisper (as ruled in the Beit Yosef, Orach Chaim §59 based on the Zohar). The ”Imrei Emes” explains the intention of the Zohar based on what he found in the Torah novellae of their father the Sfat Emet. At the end of the letter, the Imrei Emes concludes: ”I request you send me a copy of the Likutim [collections] on Bereshit and Shemot for some of the Parshiyot.” It appears these words were written in connection with the book ”Sfat Emet – Likutim” that was being edited during those years by the son of the Rabbi of Pavnitsh (and was printed in the years 1934–1936).
