In the second half of the letter, the Gaon and Av Beit Din of Ponevezh, Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman, personally adds several handwritten lines, overflowing with affection and blessing: “…He who bestows kindness upon the undeserving has bestowed upon me all good — may I merit to arrive alive in the Land of the Living. I hope to see Your Honor, may he live and be well, soon, and to delight in the sweetness of his company. With the priestly blessing, in love and esteem as is fitting, Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman.” Fold marks. Very good condition. The great Gaon Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman (1888–1969) – Rabbi of Ponevezh and Rosh Yeshiva of the illustrious Ponevezh Yeshiva, which he rebuilt after the Holocaust in Bnei Brak. One of the foremost Torah giants of his generation, he reestablished the world of Torah and chesed in the shadow of the devastation of European Jewry, particularly of Lithuanian Jewry. Member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel, and among the primary architects of its direction and stature.
