Jerusalem, 1939 [תרצ”ט] “The poultry shochet, the honorable Rabbi Chaim Reuven Chazan, presented his knife before me, and it was found to be proper. ‘And the poor shall eat from his slaughter and be satisfied.’” — A letter from Maran the righteous Gaon Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky, Gaavad of the Edah HaChareidis in Jerusalem, attesting to the quality of a shochet’s knife. Jerusalem, 1939. [1] Leaf, official letterhead, handwritten, signed, and stamped by Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky, “Rav and Av Beit Din of all Ashkenazi communities in the Holy City of Jerusalem, may it be rebuilt and reestablished, and Chief Rabbi of Orthodox Jewry in the Land of Israel.” Maran the Righteous Gaon Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky (1867–1949) – Served as Rav of Galanta and Khust in Hungary, and later as Gaavad of the Edah HaChareidis in Jerusalem. A leading posek and Rosh Yeshiva, he was one of the luminaries of his generation. Fold marks, rust stains from a paperclip. Good to very good condition.
