Letter from the Great Gaon Rabbi Meir Karelitz, Eldest Brother of Maran the Chazon Ish, on Peace Between Agudas Yisrael and Poalei Agudas Yisrael. Tel Aviv, 1943. In this letter, sent to the editorial board of the bulletin Kol Yisrael in Jerusalem, he requests that his opinion regarding the peace between Poalei Agudas Yisrael and Agudas Yisrael not be publicized or turned into a public debate. Instead, he will present his position before the World Executive Committee. The letter is typewritten, bearing his handwritten signature, ”Meir Karelitz, ” along with handwritten corrections on the letter itself. The great Gaon Rabbi Meir Karelitz (1875–1955), Rabbi of Lyakhavichy, was the eldest brother of Maran the Chazon Ish and one of the leading sages of the generation. He was the right-hand man of Maran the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer of Vilna in public affairs and the strengthening of religion, and later in Eretz Yisrael, one of the principal figures in the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah.
