From the treasury of the Sefarim of the eminent Gaon, the Chida! Distinguished exemplar. Sefer HaTerumot by Rabbi Shmuel HaSardi, with the commentary Gedolei Terumah by Rabbi Azariah Figo – Venice, 1643 – first edition of the commentary Gedolei Terumah – with the signature of the Chida – glosses in the handwriting of Rabbi Yonatan Galanti, Av Beit Din of Tzfat – one gloss signed in his handwriting. On the title page appears the signature of Rabbeinu, Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai – the Chida. In the leaves of the book are several glosses in the handwriting of Rabbi Yonatan Galanti, Av Beit Din of Tzfat. On leaf 299/1, a gloss is signed with his handwritten signature: ”יג”ן” Rabbi Yonatan Galanti (d. Tammuz 1678) served as Av Beit Din of Tzfat and was among the elders and greatest sages of his generation. The sages of his time praised him for his great humility and piety. His son was Rabbi Moshe Galanti, the first “Rishon LeTzion, ” known by the acronym “the Magan.” His sons-in-law were counted among the greats of the generation: Rabbi Moshe ibn Chaviv and Rabbi Shlomo HaLevi, Av Beit Din of Izmir, author of Shu”t Lev Shlomo. The eminent Gaon Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai, the Chida (1724–1806), one of the Gaonim of Israel, prolific author, exalted and revered saint. His name became renowned in all places through his journeys and wanderings. Among the tzaddikim, it is well known that study of his sefarim has the power to uplift the heart, instill fear of Heaven, and bring closeness to God. [5], 382 leaves. 28 cm. Fair condition.
